10 Ways How to Remove Wrinkles Without an Iron

Don’t you hate it when you take a load of laundry out of your dryer and discover that the clothes are wrinkled and you need to waste time ironing?

Well good news! We found 10 ways how to remove the wrinkles without an iron and to prevent wrinkles in your laundry:

1) WASH SMALL LOADS

avoid ironing - wash small loads

Don’t overload your washing machine with too many items. Clothes need room to move while they are being washed.  The bigger the batch is, and the more you stuff items into the washer, the less room the clothes have to move around, resulting in more wrinkled clothes.

2) SPRAY WRINKLED ITEMS WITH VINEGAR

Create a spray with 1 part vinegar, 3 parts water. Hang the item on a hanger and spray with the vinegar mixture. Let dry and magically the wrinkles will disappear.

3) ADD FABRIC SOFTENER TO EVERY LOAD

All modern washing machines have a fabric softener dispenser which adds liquid fabric softener automatically to the final rinse. The fabric softener will not only make your clothes feel softer and smell better but will also help avoid wrinkles to avoid ironing.

4) DON'T OVERLOAD YOUR DRYER

The same way you shouldn’t overload your washing machine neither should you overload your dryer. Loading your dryer with too many clothes can cause your clothes to tangle together and create wrinkles. Clothes need their space to ‘tumble’ around. Remember, less clothes means less (or even no) ironing.

5) ADD STEAM TO YOUR DRYER

If your clothes are creased after they have been in the dryer and you are looking for a way to remove the creases without ironing, one of the simplest methods is to return them to the dryer and create steam. Just add an ice cube to your wrinkled load of clothes. If no ice is around, you can add a damp sock or washcloth instead.

 6) READ THE GARMENT’S LABEL

You should always read the label. It is full of information and will advise the the right temperature to wash the item and will advise if it can be dried in a dryer. Be sure to fill the washer with loads that need a similar temperature in order to get the best wrinkle free results.

7) FOLD LAUNDRY AS SOON AS THE DRYER IS FINISHED

Avoid wrinkles - fold as soon as dry

The sooner you fold the clothes after the dryer has finished, the fewer wrinkles you get. Set a timer to remind you to check if your dryer has finished and remove the items immediately. Even if you don’t have time to fold them, remove them and lay them flat on a table or over the back of a chair.

8) NO DRYER? NO WORRIES

Be sure to remove your clothes from the washing machine as soon as the cycle is over and hang them to dry as straight as possible. Shirts can even be hung to dry on hangers and then can be placed directly in the closet.

9) SPRAY YOUR WRINKLED CLOTHES WITH A DE-WRINKLING SPRAY

Easily create a de-wrinkling spray. Just pour 1 tablespoon of fabric softener into a spray bottle and fill it with water. Spray your wrinkled clothes and smooth the wrinkles out using your hands. It is possible to purchase de-wrinkling sprays if you don’t have a spare spray bottle. You should find them alongside your washing detergent and fabric conditioner.

10) HANG YOUR CLOTHES IN THE SHOWER

This is one of the oldest tricks. Take a shower in hot water and create a small steaming room. Hang your clothes in the room and you will steam the wrinkles out.

The more of the above suggestions you apply the more wrinkle free your laundry will be. We hope this artcle was helpful. Please let us know below if you have any other tips to help avoid ironing. We would love to add more to this list.
